iWDM (intelligent WDM) technology was invented by Transmode and provides a cost-optimized transport of multiple services while simplifying the provisioning and operations of an optical transport network.

The ability to support multiple services, and the quality of these services, is key to transport networks. iWDM provides forward error correction functionality for extending the reach of a system while maintaining the quality of the services and performance monitoring at Layer 1 or Layer 2 for service level agreement maintenance. It supports multiple services and provides aggregation at Layer 1 or 2 to the most cost-efficient transport bit rate that includes 1, 2.5, 4 or 10 Gb/s depending on the application.

iWDM also provides a patented automatic client protocol and bit-rate detection that reduces an operator’s OPEX by removing the need for complex installation, commissioning and provisioning. It also provides in-band management capabilities that simplifies the management of remote network elements.
