STOCKHOLM, Sweden – 27 October 2009 – for the fifth year in a row Transmode, one of the leading suppliers of optical networking solutions, has been placed near the very top of international auditing and consulting company Deloitte’s list, Fast 50, of the fastest growing technology companies in Sweden.

A growth of 3 368 percent over the past five years – from 18 million SEK 2004 to 607 million SEK 2008 – secured second place among the 50 companies ranked in the Swedish Technology Fast 50. That means that Transmode is the fastest growing hardware company in Sweden, as well as its second biggest supplier of telecom equipment.

Set up in 1995, the award program is present in 21 countries around the world. Nominated companies in each country will now get the chance to compete in the European Fast 500 list.

“We are naturally highly honored to receive this accolade. It is a proof that we are successful even when compared with companies outside our own industry”, says Transmode CEO, Karl Thedéen.

“But we must develop further. Up till now, we have built our growth on optical networking solutions, dedicated to handle the constantly increasing internet traffic in metro networks. We must now take the next step to be able to address the demands created in the mobile networks by LTE, the next generation of mobile systems.”

At Deloitte, hopes are high for an improvement in the economical climate.

“We see clear growth potential for certain companies, despite the general economic situation. The key is for the technology companies to prepare to drive themselves, and an important section of the economy, forward. There are good prospects for better general economic conditions,” says Tommy Mårtensson, partner and head of the industry group Technology, Media and Telecommunications at Deloitte in Sweden.

Transmode also gets a high mark from the customers, as shown in a recent customer survey.

“Satisfied customers are crucial for our continued growth, which makes the result very pleasing”, says Ola Elmeland, Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Transmode. “Overall, we achieved an index of 79, which is in line with last year’s results and significantly better than the industry average. It is particularly good to see that our customers in the key US market are among the most pleased. In the US, we reached an index of 85, a figure that compares well with top consumer companies such as Apple and Google.”

The result of the survey, conducted by the CFI Group, is a Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) which is directly comparable to the US ASCI index and Swedish Quality Index, SKI. In the survey, customers were asked to rank Transmode in a range of different aspects – from product quality to customer service and technical expertise.
